CVW Dilemma

Hello everyone! Yesterday I received an email informing me that I was invited to a CVW on the 10th (February). On their health guidelines, it says that you must be fully vaccinated AND have the COVID booster ONLY if you have been fully vaxxed for more than 6 months. I am fully vaxxed but last, December ended up contracting it (mild). According to my nurse mother, I have to wait at least 90 days to get the booster shot after having COVID, (for me, March 2) Does this mean I can't go?

Anxious to hear if there is flexibility. My DS finds himself in same situation with another SA. Has had Covid twice in last 11 months - most recently two weeks ago. Not vaxed and not recommended to get vaxed due to recent covid i.e. within last month. Leaves him out of luck if the SA is only concerned about seeing a vax card. Even his HS grants a 90 pass from any testing or covid protocols since he had covid.

Hoping they're at least willing to reschedule, but I literally have no clue how it works over at admissions.

I got the covid booster and the flu shot when I was (probably) positive for covid. I told the nurse when I came in for my appointment;

"look, I had the 'rona last week and today is only 4 days since I tested positive and if you test me, I'm probably still positive but I feel fine. Should I reschedule?"

She told me; "I don't care. These shots won't kill you - and for all I know - I have covid right now, so it's up to you"

I said: "Okie dokie, jab me!"

:)

My DS was invited in the fall but because of the nomination interviews and exams he could not make it, he asked to do it in the spring and he was invited again and went last weekend. Talk to the SA they are fairly accommodating.

just call and ask and see if you can push it back. just FYI - the CDC does not say you have to wait 90 days to get boosted - my plebe had covid over Christmas and got boosted 2 weeks later. I know this is a personal topic and one that gets very heated when discussed - but do what you need to do to go to the CVW - my daughter had a drag last weekend (her 4th or 5th) and it really makes a difference to see the real world at USNA.

You don't have to wait 3 months to be boosted. You only have to wait until your COVID symptoms have resolved. (physician here)

Oops!

I think I'm okay because I never had any symptoms. :)

I’m flying into BWI for my CVW next week. What’s the best way to get from the airport to the naval academy and back? Also, do I actually need to bring a pillow and sheets?
Thank you

My P2B flew into BWI too and took an Uber to the Academy and back. He said that it was easy and that there were many Uber drivers near the airport and also in Naptown for the return trip.

DS didn't need sheets or blankets and he just put some clothes in his backpack for a pillow.

you can uber from BWI or get a car service - I do have a great guy that picks up my girl at the airport he is very reasonable - if you want that info - also you will be sleeping on a cot on the floor - so yes bring a pillow and a blanket - this past CVW my girl has an empty bed but they would not let the drag (CVW visitor) sleep on it.
