Hi all!

I am a rising senior and just received another invitation to CVW at Navy. I went last year I March when I was invited, and I did not expect to be invited again as a Senior.

Is this by any chance a mistake? Because, the previous drags I've made friends with also received the same email. Or, does this mean anything good?

Thanks!

I wouldn't read anything into it. Sometimes they sent out CVW invites based on application completion percentage.
If you had a good time last year, you can certainly do it again if you like.

Even if we haven't completed nor submitted our application at all?

It also won’t have any bearing on your application. Whether you attend, or don’t.

OP, if you are already set on attending USNA, and don’t need additional visits to help you decide, and especially if you have already attended a CVW, I wouldn’t go out of my way (financially, etc) to attend. If it’s easy to go for you? And you want to go? Then go. You will get a look at USNA from a different hosts perspective. And, if it’s a different season of the year, that also is a different vibe.

But don’t tell yourself it’s an indication of USNA ‘recruiting’ you. Think about it: they do not yet have your application. Put forward you BEST application, as soon as you can. And attend the CVW if you want or need to.

Good luck!!

My son also went as a Junior in the spring. He would like to go again and see/experience the Yard in the fall semester. My DH would also like to attend and learn more. Is there a process to request a second CVW? The first one came out of the blue- DS did not have an open application of any kind, after CVW he is now an active candidate. Thanks.

It’s just what the doctor ordered for DS. After turndowns for Inspire and SS, it definitely helps confidence. I know that those turndowns don’t really mean anything in the grand scheme of things, but it’s sometimes easy to forget that 16 and 17 year olds don’t necessarily think like that.

Have them reach out to their BGO and let them know they are interested in a CVW.

The fact that other people that were there at the same time you were suggested that it was a mistake or sent from an old email list. I suspect that Admissions doesn't have the resources or at least system in place to filter out those that have already attended from the invite list.

It never hurts to ask ... but be upfront with Admissions and have a specific reason to go back. Things really aren't that much different between Spring and Fall. Also, keep in mind there is limited capacity -- Admissions is going to want to get as many people the opportunity before giving second looks to candidates.
