I just wanted to say that I was on The Yard yesterday sitting by the fountain behind Lejeune Hall, while the CVW attendees were filing in on their way to Mitscher Hall.

I pointed several toward Red Beach and showed them where to turn.
They looked so happy, and rested. They will have great weather for it. I wish them well.

The food trucks were there by Dahlgren. The chicken Schwarma was really good. :)

My DS is taking a drag to classes today. It will be nice to hear what it's like having come full-circle, being a drag last year.

is it possible to request a CVW? DS asked the BOG about one and he was told that it was a great idea but not the BGOs duty to coordinate. he said to call the admission office. so my assumption is that if the admissions office doesn't call you, you don't get to have one?

I had my CVW last weekend and it seemed like most of the other candidates I talked to were not accepted into Summer Seminar. My admissions counselor recommended me for a CVW, but I am not sure if this is typical. My BGO helped request one for me, but it seemed like he was going out of his way to do so. I think that this weekend is the final CVW for this semester. I know they will have another set of them around April. I would suggest having your DS email his admissions counselor.

thanks so much, my DS did attend NASS but was also interested in the CVW from a perspective of attending classes with a current student

My DS attended both last year and I think it helped him get a full picture of Academy life.

Since Candidate Visit Weekends are by invitation only, the only time I have heard of anyone getting one who hadn't been previously invited, was when the applicant already had a Letter of Assurance (LOA) and had requested one. I don't think that anyone can just request a CVW, but they do conduct more dates now than they did just a few years ago. This leads me to believe that they extend offers to more than just 250-or-so applicants.

My DD attended CVW last weekend. And, yes, she was not accepted into Summer Seminar. Her test scores at the time she applied were really low. However, since then her scores have improved greatly.

My son was able to request one from his admissions counselor via email- he received a CVW even after he had been given an offer of appointment

One of the drags received a Letter of Assurance while they were there. Pretty neat.

Last year, CVW was offered from Oct-Nov and Jan-Mar. Fall visitors are normally Seniors and Spring are mostly Juniors, more than 100 per session, with few on the fence Seniors. Spring visiting Seniors many would have Appointments. Fall visiting Seniors some have LOAs. Program starts Thurs evening with full day on Friday including PT, classes you requested attending with your MIDN, and activities that may include gym and or club. Program ends on Saturday morning with a pickup at the Alumni Hall. The program is by invitation only but you can request to admissions even if not invited. I believe they will accommodate if space is available until filled. Travel light but definitely bring a comfortable blanket and pillow. You’ll be sleeping on a cot, not the most comfortable but it beats sleeping on a hard floor. Nice to bring extra snacks for your hosts, normally 2 MIDNs per room. Bring your school work to study during CVW. I would leave the heavy text books behind however. My MIDN attended CVW and he loved it. CVW helped him decide on USNA pretty quickly. He’s now a host MIDN to CVW Attendees. Enjoy your visit!
