My DS went through the application for the Academy but never got the chance to attend CVW. He did attend NASS but did not get selected to the academy. He did however get the NROTC scholarship. That said what is the overall significance of CVW. My DD is now on the path to apply like my son and I'm not certain why or even how it was offered to her. I'm just trying to understand it a little better so I can talk to it if asked.

There is emphasis to recruit females by the SAs. IMHO. I have no ideas what your DS and DD numbers to compare.

DS had had nominations each year he applied with no NASS or CVW or appointment. DD had LOA and no NASS or CVW but we contacted BGO and got a CVW. She loved it. . Good Luck. CVW was educational for both parents with some great briefings and daughter had a great time in Mother B. I don't think they have been actively recruiting female applicants for the past few years. The number of female graduates are way up. Incoming 1980 55 incoming this year 331. My daughter's class had a lot of women wearing those Marine Blues.

CVWs are becoming less "significant" than before...the fact that juniors (in their fall semesters) are (likely) being offered CVWs without any indicators of competitiveness (i.e. SAT, ACT, PSAT, PLAN scores) strengthens this point....doesn't mean those being offered aren't competitive...just that offers are not being made on that basis. If a H.S. senior or college applicant does not specifically request, but is offered a CVW after the cycle has began (fall through spring), then that MIGHT indicate the offer is being made on their competitiveness...but doesn't necessarily mean anything of significance. Many competitive candidates ARE NOT offered appointments. Bottom line...don't read too much into CVWs.

Thank you USNABGO08...
She took her ACT & SAT last year and did well; however, I will got with your last thought. I have seen the roller coaster ride.
