Okay my cousin and I would like to know, can you date a midshipman if she is in the same class as you?( both 3rd class)

So your cousin who you say is a current mid doesn't know the rules regarding dating????

I'm not sure what the Academy says about dating your cousin, be she 3rd class or 3rd cousin. May I ask ... are you from West Virginia?

jk of course. :rolleyes:This one was simply too much to resist.:shake:

No, I was just giving a scenario by saying both third class. A bet was made and I believe its no so please help me obtain payment:shake: He is anapplicant and I'm a candidate.

i'm not positive, but i think they can be in the same class, but NOT in the same company. don't yell at me if i'm wrong, though.

When I was at USMA SLS, there was a cadet couple in the cadre. They were both the same year.

I remember at NASS our MIDN pointing out couples or people who hooked up left and right. Now, I'm not sure if the dating was under regulation but still... it happens.

Midshipmen Regulations (COMDTMIDNINST 5400.6L), spell the guidelines out clearly; one, there can be no upperclass (1/C, 2/C, or 3/C) to 4/C relationship and two, the MIDN cannot be in the same company.

"2. When prejudicial to good order and discipline or of a nature to bring discredit on the Naval service, unduly familiar personal relationships between Midshipmen in the same company are prohibited. Any Midshipman who desires to engage in an interpersonal relationship with another Midshipman in the same company shall request transfer to another company and shall affect such a transfer prior to engaging in such a relationship.

2.15. RELATIONSHIP OF UPPER-CLASS TO FOURTH-CLASS
1. Overview. Due to the unique training environment that the Naval Academy provides and the essential leadership role that upper-class Midshipmen play in educating and training fourth-class Midshipmen, upper-class and fourth-class Midshipmen have a senior-subordinate relationship that must be respected and protected. This prohibition applies to all upper-class/plebe relationships; irrespective of how or when the unduly familiar relationship began (e.g., prior relationships are not exempt)."
