Marion Military Institute. It is located in Alabama (slightly NW of Montgomery). It is one of the Military Junior Colleges that offer a Service Academy Preparation program (as well as AA/AS degrees). What is MMI?

We are headed down there on Monday during our spring break. Unfortunately we won't be able to attend the open house on the 5th, but I'd love for us to stay connected as they will be spending the next year getting to know each other! Where are you guys from?My DS is headed to MMI as an West Point AOG Scholar this Fall as well. There is an Open House on April 5th that we are going to attend. His decision is made. This is just about meeting some people and getting a sense of where he will be this Fall. Always a chance that he could get an admission to USMA this year, but I'm led to believe that is unlikely at this point. We are so grateful for the opportunity, and I see many positive things about LTC Bowen. He called my DS to welcome him, and he could not have been nicer. My DS said, "You don't know how nice it was just to have someone talk to me like a human being rather than a CFA or SAT score."
If anyone else is heading down for that, it would be good to say "hi."
That's an excellent plan B. Hoping your DD's plan A works outDD has been awarded the AOG Scholarship and will attend MMI if she does not receive an appointment this year. Anyone else headed to MMI?
LTC Bowen is all that and more. The lasting memory of him that I will keep is my first in-person meeting with him when my son (a self-prep) and I went to visit in early May and for my son to decide whether he was all in on Marion or not. So LTC Bowen took us around campus for well over an hour and stopped and talked with every cadet we encountered and then filled us in on the cadet's plans for the coming year. He literally knew everybody and their story. For a student body that basically turns over every year, I was incredibly impressed. Then he told us to go to Diane's for steak, and it was awesome . . . and just as homey as he described. My DS is headed to MMI as an West Point AOG Scholar this Fall as well. We currently live in MA, but we've lived all over the US. We aren't a military family, but we've moved often enough that it seems that way. My son was born in Kansas City, but we've lived in Las Vegas, Denver, Northern VA, and MA (between Boston and Providence, RI). I'm excited that they will get to know each other before they hit the academy. We are headed down there on Monday during our spring break. What a great testament to his devotion to the cadets. The good thing is that they are all on the same journey together. It is my hope that they will be a source of support and encouragement to each other. I hope that your son is doing well and gets the appointment he wants.LTC Bowen is all that and more. The cadets seem like a close bunch, regardless of academy of interest, and this semester we parents have kind of formed a rooting section here for each other's cadets.
This was the exact experience my DS and I had at MMI and with LTC Bowen last April. I can't say enough good things about MMI and LTC Bowen.LTC Bowen is all that and more.
