Deadline and notification for missing evaluation

DS submitted an NROTC app expecting to be viewed between mid Feb-April boards. He’s also applying to a SA and AROTC and plan B colleges. He had to track down a third evaluator who had left his overseas school and relocated to another overseas school. He communicated this to his coordinator and provided emails in mid Jan. Coordinator notified DS that evaluators were emailed on Feb 1. DS has had issues with portal access from time to time. His Third party evaluation was shown as only thing missing end of Feb. In his mind, he figured it was in process or on its way. He followed up with this evaluator on March 1 who shared that due COVID working remotely and had no access to printer perhaps due to awaiting household shipment. Evaluator reached out to coordinator asking to submit info in a different form due to no access to printer shortly after my son following up with him on status. Evaluator was advised it was too late to submit as it closed March 1. DS contacted coordinator seeking guidance and he advised son he would have to reapply next year. My question is there any recourse here to correct the situation and do coordinators ever notify applicants of failed attempts to reach someone to complete an evaluation when it’s the only missing piece. DS has accepted the decision. Trying to be neutral here but seeing all that he did along the way to communicate and get his ducks in a row. This is really really disappointing while realizing my son has learned a valuable lesson in following up at all costs. Thanks for any guidance or experience with a similar scenario. Does the process ever include a coordinator notifying an applicant when an evaluation is not received or is that not part of the process.

Is the coordinator you are speaking about for the NROTC piece? Or SA piece?

Other thoughts from your post....what happened between feb 1 and the march 1 follow up? Because the deadline for usna was feb 28. So intense follow up/through should have been early to mid February. Are there any emails or anything between feb 1 to march 1?

Unfortunately, as this appears to me from your timeline/info, next year it is. I’m not sure what a coordinator is, but ultimately this is your sons application, process and responsibity. It’s up to him to make sure EVERY duck is lined up. EVERY I is dotted. EVERY T crossed. Not the coordinators. Part of the whole appointment process is just this. His ability to manage the beast that it is. NROTC applicants can follow up with a PNS email (provided in the application, but also through a google search, and discussed here on the forums, through recruiters, school units, etc). USNA applicants can contact admissions (via email, chat bubble, BGO‘s, google and on the forums) to follow up.

I do belive your son has learned a lesson. He missed deadlines, his application wasn’t complete. There is another poster here that has experienced the same outcome for usna this cycle....their evaluator didn’t get their stuff in on time. While it is not your sons FAULT that the evaluator didn’t complete their task, it is his RESPONSIBILITY that they do (No printer? Send an email...easy).

Ugh
