DS submitted an NROTC app expecting to be viewed between mid Feb-April boards. He’s also applying to a SA and AROTC and plan B colleges. He had to track down a third evaluator who had left his overseas school and relocated to another overseas school. He communicated this to his coordinator and provided emails in mid Jan. Coordinator notified DS that evaluators were emailed on Feb 1. DS has had issues with portal access from time to time. His Third party evaluation was shown as only thing missing end of Feb. In his mind, he figured it was in process or on its way. He followed up with this evaluator on March 1 who shared that due COVID working remotely and had no access to printer perhaps due to awaiting household shipment. Evaluator reached out to coordinator asking to submit info in a different form due to no access to printer shortly after my son following up with him on status. Evaluator was advised it was too late to submit as it closed March 1. DS contacted coordinator seeking guidance and he advised son he would have to reapply next year. My question is there any recourse here to correct the situation and do coordinators ever notify applicants of failed attempts to reach someone to complete an evaluation when it’s the only missing piece. DS has accepted the decision. Trying to be neutral here but seeing all that he did along the way to communicate and get his ducks in a row. This is really really disappointing while realizing my son has learned a valuable lesson in following up at all costs. Thanks for any guidance or experience with a similar scenario. Does the process ever include a coordinator notifying an applicant when an evaluation is not received or is that not part of the process.
