DS received an email yesterday with a deadline of 11/8 for the a few remaining forms including The CFA or his application will be “locked”.

It also says that once 3 of these forms are done, his info will be forwarded DoDMERB so he will receive info to schedule his exam.

He was already sent info and has a medical appt today and optometrist appt next week.

We advised him to contact his ALO as this is the first communication stating the 11/8 deadline.

He has been working with a trainer weekly and has been in touch with his PE teacher who has agreed to administer the CFA , but has not set a date, yet.

Does this seem unusual ?

USAFA deadlines are triggered by date you first open your candidate application file online [or at least were in the past.]
Can you confirm when you first created your online application account ? 6 months seems to be what I recall - they use rolling deadlines.

Do NOT wait to Nov 7-8 to upload CFA scores. The next 2 weeks are not going to change much - take a practice test, 2 days of rest, and get official CFA done by Nov 1 IMHO.
 
USAFA's deadlines are 4 months from when the candidate opened their file on the portal. July 1st was the first day the portal went live, and as a result, many candidates have Nov 1st as their deadline.

@sabrescoutmom It looks like your son got the update message that USAFA is sending out to candidates. Are you saying that he didn't know his deadline until he got the message? The deadline should have been prominent on the portal and would have been hard to miss. How far along is he in filling out the forms?

Midwest Dad gave good advice. He should not wait to schedule CFA until the last minute. Practice CFA is a good idea also though three days prior to actual might be tough for some people. Good luck to him!
 
Actually, it is 4 months. He is otherwise well along.

Transcripts, SAT scores, recommendations and sample/essays done as well .
The only major time sensitive missing item is the CFA.

MOC interview is scheduled for 12/1

DS applied for SS that’s how his application got started. I’m not sure why he continued to work on his application. He has Nov 1 deadline. He is Dobmerb qualified with pres- nom. Only missing PFE but can’t do it until after his football season. He received 60 emails from AFA admission yesterday, all same email saying to finish his application. He will withdraw his application as soon as he can.
 
My DS got a blast of 28 of the same emails from AFA admissions a few weeks ago. Ghost in the machine? :)
