Decision release

I think I read somewhere that most decisions are made in late March and communicated in April. Is that accurate for the most part? Obviously they trickle in up until even may in some cases.

As you can see by the historic trend chart derived from posts at this website, USAFA recently had a large appointment release. If you slide this curve over to match the prior years, there may be one more big release out there... but maybe not. To me, this looks to mirror the 2024 cycle, but is time shifted due to delays caused by the new web platform that launched this admissions cycle.

There will be more appointments, and I received one in JUNE - so trust that they do in fact appoint all the way to the start of BCT. However, if you have not yet received a decision, understand that the percentage chance you will receive a positive outcome is declining daily as they get closer to BCT and acceptance notifications from appointees are received that suggest they will receive the desired yield from this applicant class.

Also, if you look at page 4 of your Instructions to Candidates packet, it states that “by April 21, Letters sent to candidates who have not been selected for appointment. Candidates who completed the full application will be informed of their admission status by this date.”
Therefore, by 21 April, the vast majority of applicants will know their admission status. Best wishes to all who applied!

That is disappointing to here, but I will remain hopeful

Most decisions have been made but I expect to see a significant number over the next two weeks and the occasional up until June even
This is what I think will happen too. Last year, us reapplicants got our rejection letter on April 15th, so we should know around then.

Am I to assume that a DQ doesn’t receive a rejection notification from the Academy?

Reality has set in - most of us who are still waiting will get a TWE in the next two weeks. Didn’t want to focus too much time or energy on Plan B but that’s what we have to do now and move on without an appointment from USAFA. Sad times. It is what is is. Reality of life.

There is still a chance of appointment I'm not counting myself out of it yet. Not until I get that TWE

If you're a TWE nothing is stopping them from just telling you. You're exhibiting gross pessimism and that's more representative of a TWE than anything else. You're dragging others down by saying something like that. You don't know why you're getting notified later than other people and you can't know. It's true though that no news is good news, it's way easier to tell you no than just leave you waiting 2 weeks.

Very easy to say as an appointee

Appointee, non-select, whatever. We might be disappointed with a TWE but I think that your goal as an AFROTC cadet is to wear the gold bar on an Air Force uniform.
Yes. I also understand why people might feel pessimistic. That’s normal. Humans aren’t robots. My friends are waiting on solely this to sign a lease on a house for next semester, and we aren’t the only ones trying to find housing. Everyone has their reasons and situations for getting stressed about stuff like this. Not knowing what I’m doing this June is becoming a problem in my life. If I don’t hear back in a few days I’m probably going to have to sign the lease.

Yes, my goal is to commission, but you don’t know me or anyone else on here nor our situation. The judging party needs to end

Last year, most of the appointments went out in the middle of March, whereas the TWEs came out April 15th. That's just the way they do it. I'm optimistic this time around, seeing as not as many appointments as normal went out in March, but USAFA takes their sweet time to let you know that you have not been appointed.
