I applied to delayed entry as a plan B for the academies earlier this year. Even though I was rejected from the academies, I decided I wanted to go to college and self prep and then reapply. I told my recruiter and he is not the happiest about it. He is saying there are to many if’s and gambles when I could just enlist and have it guaranteed. Any advice on what to say to him?

You do not need to be in touch with recruiters if you do not want to enlist. It's your career. If you want to become an officer and set yourself up for a great career, then do it. Don't let what your recruiter says sway your decision. Politely decline, and be on your way.

Your recruiter has one job, get contracts. Going enlisted is no guarantee to your goals either, if those goals include being an officer. If you want to be an officer, seek that path. Your recruiter is going to pressure you, stay strong. Enlist if you want to serve, there are no guarantees. Plan to serve the entire enlistment.

The recruiter putting you in charge of their emotions is their problem. Ask them to leave you alone.

Thanks for your time, but I’m not enlisting. Please lose my number. Goodbye.
