I was wanting to know if going delayed entry helps the NROTC scholarship at all. When I filled out the application, there was a checkbox asking if you were in delayed entry and what your ship date is. I am already in delayed entry, and I was just wondering if this really helps at all. My NROTC coordinator said that it should help a bit and that I might get an extra glance from it, but he wasn't sure exactly what it did to help. Going enlisted is my 3rd option if my applications to the academy and scholarship fall through. Thanks in advance!

DEP is NOT a hindrance nor will it "put you "over the top". However, you need to decide if you are going to be an Officer or Enlisted. Just because you may not receive a USNA appointment or be awarded an NROTC scholarship there are many other college avenues open to you in your quest to become an officer. If you were thinking US Marine, you can consider PLC, or attempt to "side-load" after freshman year. Read these forums and do your research if you sincerely want to attend college and just don't go and sign enlisted out of discouragement from your Plan A.
