I really love PC gaming and have a huge badass custom built gaming PC, will I be allowed to put it in my dorm next year? I understand that cadets are issued laptops, but that doesn't really meet my needs. Thanks.

Your needs will most definetly not be met at USMA while you are a plebe, hate to be blunt >.<

I understand it will be tough and my time will be limited, but does this mean I can not bring my desktop? What about my other 3 years at the academy?

milesthang - is this a deal breaker for you?
either way, don't worry about it. You will NOT be bringing it to R-Day with you.

Whether or not you can play video games on the weekends as a plebe is mostly dependent on your company rules. There is no way of knowing this now.
That said - many West Point cadets are hard core gamers. From what I hear.

I am as well a "hard core" gamer, but if accepted I am more than willing to put this aside while I 'm at the Academy. Service Academys have much more worth to me than video games.

My opinion (for what it is worth) - PC games are fine but don't isolate yourself in your room all the time. Get involved in a sport(s) or club(s) to give you something to do besides games.

BTW...USMA doesn't have dorms, they have barracks.

Thanks for the info and this is definitely not a deal breaker for me! USMA 2013
