My medical status was approved in February but as per the DODMERB policy, I reported that my dentist recommended removing my wisdom teeth and that I saw my PCM for dry lips and was recommended to get an allergy test. Almost immediately I received a response that my medical status had been changed from Qualified and I’m just worried that since its so late in the process that I may not get an appointment at all if either of these have issues would require a waiver or if I can’t get appointments ASAP. If the base can’t get me in soon can I go to a civilian doctor instead?

Just looking for some comfort or guidance from anyone that has experienced this. Seems like everything was all worked out and now I’m so uncertain about the whole process again. I know I did everything properly it’s just stressful. Any advice or words of wisdom?

I appreciate your stress. DS was medically qualified in the fall of the year, but went to doctor in the spring because leg was hurting from running. He was diagnosed with evidence of a healing stress fracture--which resulted in a medical disqualification. DS in the interim had received an appointment to WP.
He reported the finding to DODMERB and the RC at admissions and the waiver process was initiated. He did receive the waiver in fairly short order and is now a Plebe.

So, do not stress and let the process run its course. In short, if it is possible to waive and the Service Academy wants you, the matter will work out.

Good luck!

Thank you for sharing. He received an appointment while disqualified?

No, the appointment came at the time of going to the doctor--so the DODMERB record still showed qualified. He then had to report the finding which resulted in his medical disqualification.
