I’ve been on a relatively strict ketogenic diet for a while now, and it honestly has put me in the best shape of my life. I’m never tempted to eat any carb/junk food. Is this sustainable? For those that don’t know, the diet consists of 75% fat, 20% protein, 5% carbs. No rude remarks regarding my lifestyle choice please, it personally works for me, I’m just wondering if the chow at the SA and SMC will allow this or even provide it.

Give them a call and ask, and make sure that you put these dietary requirements on your application so that they can accommodate you.

I think it’s doable when you’re not out in the field.

I don’t think you’ll be able to avoid the carbs when the lunch for the day is an MRE. Lots of carbs are purposefully put in MREs because it is assumed energy will be needed.

You’ve essentially put your body in a diabetic state. If a doctor will draw blood on you for labs, he may be compelled to chase any electrolyte abnormalities. When your urine gets tested, it’ll definitely show high levels of ketones.

I agree with GoCubbies. If you look past school and when you enter active duty, I don't know how dietary restrictions could possibly be maintained when you are in the field, deployed, etc.
