Hi, just wondering if you guys have seen candidates with disqualification letter but all check marks on the portal were green.
My DS has 4.4 GPA, 29Sat, and was President of honor association and other group as well. Just trying to get some
Feed back for him.

A quick google search gave me the statistics (not sure which year).

Of 12,000 applicants - 2200 are deemed fully qualified (all green checks). the 2200, 1200 get appointments.

So close to half of the fully qualified get appointments.

Search the site for reapplicants, if he is still interested. A year of rigorous college classes heavy in stem could help the application.

Did he play sports? Class rank? Competitive district?

He ranked 10 out 437 in high school. (Gpa)
Could have been that they already had there 1200 back in December during their first appointment batches?

Just checked and it says that he passed his CFA, now sports he didn’t play any. But his CFA was really good.

knowing the army, I think maybe we just started his application late and it was a numbers game. Most likely they had their 1200 already. His medical physical is today, still he received the letter

Did he get a letter stating that he was not accepted or are you just trying to figure out if he is likely to get one? If he did receive the TWE (Thin White Envelope), then he can call and speak to his admissions officer to get feedback for the next year's application. Was he 3Q with a nom?

However, to say that they have picked the 1200 in December is incorrect, it is a much slower process than that esp with the application deadline at the end of January.

I think it is explained in A1Janitor's post. If your candidate is fully qualified, there are many, many qualified individuals that will not receive an appointment as is true for all the SA's. While it is just math, it is not my understanding that it is influenced by "first come first serve" at this point in the process.

Separately, I know it's also true with other SA's, the check mark means "received" but it's not an indicator of the "quality" of the submission or whether it meets a certain guideline. Hope your DS is doing o.k. It's quite a journey to not have the outcome you're hoping for.

He should talk to his Regional Commander on the Admissions Team to get feedback. He should still go for the physical...because he can use it for his ROTC scholarship, too.

He just received a Disqualification letter and had nominations
Unfortunately from what I've read half of those that are 100% qualified will not receive an appointment. My son exceeded all the checklist items including academics, outside school and in school leadership, CFA, Varsity Lax Captain, student council, Drumline section leader, nomination, etc. and still received the letter. It is just that competitive which is why we have always focused on plans B, C, D, and E. I think its sometimes harder on us parents to see them receive the rejections when they have worked so hard and are seemingly on paper the perfect candidate. I just stay positive and focus on help my DS focus on all the other options he can still pursue.

If he didn’t have any sports that could be it. Look at the class profiles from previous years and you will see that 98 or 99% of Cadets played a varsity sport.

A 29 act isn't very competitive for a non-athlete, non-minority male.
