Yesterday DS received his rejection letter. We got an email from admissions stating to check portal because they are not sending letters. The PDF was titled FILE DISQUALIFICATION. Obviously we were disappointed. However, what bugs me is that on his portal some of his items still have not been processed. Now we are wondering what triggered the rejection/disqualification? Any thoughts?

What specific items were not processed?

Did he have a nomination?

May I ask what his stats were like?

Just a guess, but it is more thank likely that your DS did not pass the CFA. The fact that the CFA appears as not processed on his portal is a likely indicator this was the case. I have seen this happen multiple times in my district during this application cycle. Just an educated guess.

The seventh semester transcript not being processed yet is not a major issue as the academies are providing flexibility given this unique school year. As others have suggested, the CFA may be the issue. The only was to get some clarification is to contact your Regional Rep.

My DS had all of his items checked Green and CFA passed. Now, his DODMERB was not completed still he got a disqualification letter.
He had nominations, passed CFA, 4.4GPA, last 3 years all his classes been AP, certified EMR, Certified EKG technician, President of HONOR SOCIETY, PRESIDENT OF HOSA, multiple state level academic awards, over 29 ACT, 1200 SAT and top 10 on the county( academically) still was not enough.
We Wondered that maybe he got disqualified because his DODMERB was not complete which it was not his fault.

I know which is why we are trouble. He emailed his RC 3 days ago and no reply yet

I think the regional commander communicated with admissions regarding DS’s files. The admissions OIC decided to send the TWE.

In my opinion, the 1200 SAT is very low for USMA. That also depends on where you are, like in NJ there’s almost no chance for an appointment with a 1200. My friend had a 1280 and wasn’t appointed, I had a 1350 and still think I wasn’t gonna make the cut. In other states, such as out west, a 1200 may be competitive for admission, I honestly couldn’t tell you. Definitely email the RC and ask why he was deemed unqualified. Did he ever receive a 3Q letter?

It was the SAT

If he’s reapplying, have him check out KahnAcademy‘s SAT prep. I’ve been using it to study for the May SAT (so I get that over with before college in the fall), and it’s been immensely helpful. Also don’t get discouraged with a DQ, I say that a year of prep with ROTC or something else before USMA will help greatly both academically and physically, and we’ll be more mature for the academy. More pros than cons to being a reapplicant, if he’s reapplying.
