Do I need to get ACT, inc. to send official score for SLE?

Hello,

I am currently a junior in high school and I am hoping to join the class of 2026. In January I applied to the SLE and a few weeks later I retook the ACT. I studied really and went from a 27 to a 30 with increases in all areas. I updated my score on my candidate portal but while communicating with my area's admissions officer he said that I need to have my ACT score officially sent to West Point in order for my scores to be confirmed. I know that doing so will cost money so I am wondering if it is actually necessary for the SLE or if I only have to get them confirmed for my West Point application?

Also, I took the ACT with writing and my writing score has not come in yet. If I have to pay and send my score for SLE, I probably have to wait for the writing score to come in before doing so right?

Currently, USMA requires a valid SAT, PSAT, or ACT score to evaluate your SLE application. For me, I turned in my PSAT, which is not technically score sendable, so therefore I did not have to send it to them. However, since the ACT is a verifiable score, you may need to send it to Admissions in order to have it verified for your SLE portal. First, you should check whether the Candidate Questionnaire (CQ) has a location for you to input your ACT scores and what it tells you there. Other than that, good luck with your application!

I do not believe they require the writing section for your SLE application. Yet, they will require it for your actual application.

Ok, thank you! I will be sending them an official ACT score soon :)
