Do Parents Typically Attend Advanced Camp Graduation?

My MS3 son will attend Advanced Camp this summer. Does Advanced Camp conclude with pomp and ceremony or do cadets just hop in their cars and hit the road? Do most families travel for a graduation? If so, we'll make arrangements as soon as dates are released.

My DD was notified during the camp of the graduation details ( number of people permitted, passes, etc). If they announce it, try to go if you can manage. We did travel for graduation.

The graduation ceremony itself is nice and worth attending. It is outside on the parade grounds, though they do have an indoor option in the event of rain. Family day is the day prior, so plan on getting to Louisville 2 nights prior to graduation (or early the morning prior). Family day starts with a short presentation and then you can take your cadet off base for a few hours. They have a very specific time they have to be back and they (and we) were instructed by cadre cadets were not to have any alcohol or energy drinks. DW and I elected to take DS downtown Louisville for a few hours where we got to hang out with him at our hotel and grab an early dinner at a nice steakhouse in town.

I don't even even remember adv camp grad. Commissioning is the big deal. If you are within a reasonable distance attend. If you are giving up family vacation maybe tweak plans.

Thanks for all of this! Would you say to also stay the night of graduation, too, therefore 3 nights? How does grad day go, as far as their release?

We did not stay the night of graduation, instead flying out late in the afternoon. It seemed as if some cadets were staying that night on base as outbound flights were scheduled for the next morning. DS was headed to an internship at Ft. Bragg, so we got him settled at a hotel near the airport for his flight to NC the following morning. After the ceremony, we were able to link up with him, but he still had to go back to the barracks to collect his things and get formally dismissed before we could drive him off base. Took longer than it should have, but we were probably off base with him by noon(?)
