My son wants to go to the USNA. He has been on Lexapro for anxiety for 2 yrs. His freshman year of high school was a really hard year. 1st there were fires that closed his school, then there was a flood on campus and his favorite class was affected. We then had the unimaginable in our school district and a good friend of his, along with four other students, was shot when she came to school one morning. Then Covid closed the world & all of his normal ways of dealing with struggles (friends & sports) were taken from him. His doctor put him on Lexapro, but he has always stayed on half the dosage. Now I am worried that he will be disqualified. As soon as we realized this could be an issue, he weaned off of it. I think he stayed on it to give his mom some piece of mind. I know he will have to go through the steps and ask for the waiver, but what are his chances of getting it? He has worked so hard. He has a 4.45 gpa. A 35 on his ACT. He will have 4 yrs of football & lacrosse, plus California Scholastic Federation, Key Club & National Honor Society. Will my choice to help him with the absolutely worst year of his life and then just leaving things as they were hurt him? Does he have any chance?

He absolutely has a chance. Have him apply. It's a PROCESS. He cannot win if he doesn't enter the race.
