Dodmerb for USCGA

Can someone please explain how the medical exam works with regular admissions? DS submitted his application last week.
 
If he is considered a viable/competitive candidate, he will receive an email with instructions on scheduling his DODMERB exam.
 
Does the email with the DodMerb scheduling information come soon ( a week or two) after applying or could it come much later. DD applied mid November and Bears Den account says application complete/ready for review. Have not received email requesting medical exam yet.

I think it depends but the email to schedule the appointments came from Concord so you might want to check the email associated with the application and make sure you didn't miss it. We almost did because my DS didn't recognize who it was from

Review of the early action applications was just completed, so regular action application review is probably just getting underway.
 
i would expect that DoDMERB would go out sometime in the next few weeks since RA deadline is 1/15
October 15th - Early Action Application Deadline
By December 24th - Early Action Decisions Published
January 15th - Regular Admission (Final) Application Deadline
By April 1st - Regular Admission Decisions Published
April 15th - DoDMERB Medical Examination Deadline
May 1st - Appointment Acceptance/Declination Deadline
May 15th - DoDMERB Medical Qualification/Waiver Deadline
June 1st - Accession Paperwork/Requirements Deadline
June 26th - Reporting-In Day for the Class of 2021

Curious how a candidate is deemed viable for dodmerb if file hasn't been reviewed? DS was qualified with dodmerb within days after completing RA application, but he hasn't been notified that his file is under review. Is there just a quick scan of test scores to qualify for dodmerb request (without email notification)?

my guess would be they take a quick scan of his SAT/ACT, GPA, and courses/activities and determine if they are in contention for a spot ... i am sure they have cut-offs for the scores/gpa that would be an automatic decline
 
RTP9799 is correct. The candidate is deemed viable and qualified for DODMERB. That is separate from CCEB review.
 
Ok, so I am trying to read the tea leaves........my DD applied RA mid November. She has not received an email concerning DoDMERB, but was advised by coach a few days ago that application is going for review soon. Since she was just at midrange SAT and a little below ACT midrange scores for CGA, but lots of AP/Honors/Leadership/Volunteer/and EC.....maybe she will be declined because of scores? Thoughts?
 
Reading tea leaves is not the most reliable method. They can say just about anything. Maybe... They are just waiting to review the application to decide if she is competitive and then request the medical exam. Unfortunately only time will tell.

The fact she is going for review should be a sign that she's a viable candidate ... that's what I see in my tetley

If she is a recruited athlete she stands a good chance depending on the next year's roster and her position. She might very well get CGAS. I am not sure when my DDs application was actually reviewed but she received the DODMERB about 2 weeks after the application was submitted.
 
also, if a candidate has applied for other SA's, it is possible the other academy submitted them for DODMERB in advance of the CGA application even being looked at.
 
My DD received a "reminder" email to schedule her medical exams- problem was she never received an initial email they said was sent a month before (We searched every possible cranny in her email account-even all deleted-and it was never found). We then had to scramble in order to get exams scheduled by deadline. Never hurts to ask if you should have received something, but it can cause issues if you don't!
 
It may already be on here but if it is I missed it. Does DODMERB issue the waiver or does CGA issue a waiver if DODMERB DQS a candidate?
 
DoDMERB only evaluates your medical information against the medical standard and determines Q or DQ. They also compile any additional information (remedial) that may be required to make a waiver determination. DoDMERB does not issue the waiver. Each commissioning source has its waiver authority. So CGA would issue the waiver in your case.
