My daughter is working her way through the application process and has hit a bit of a snag. As the title of this post states, the DoDMERB has requested an AMI. The assigned doctor has no appointments available until the end of January. She will reach out to the contractor that assigned this doctor for other options.

Are there suggestions for other options that she can explore to try to help this process along.

Thanks in advance

MOM/DAD/Applicant: Google "DoDMERB;" Hit "Questions on the process;" Read paragraph #4.

APPLICANT: Send me an email:
lawrence.e.mullen.civ@mail.mil; provide complete name and last 4 SSN; provide the text of your Parent's posting above to YOUR email. The subject line of the email should be “blwmhv - SAF = DoDMERB requesting AMI, assigned Dr. unavailable for two monthss .“ Do NOT embed links in your email as I will not be able to view those. :wiggle:

Obviously, Mr. Mullen will be able to guide you when you reach out to him. We had a similar issue and ended up going through our own physician and got a referral to a specialists, which our health insurance approved, to address the additional testing that was requested. We were really up against a time clock, though. It worked out for our DD to get cleared literally just in time on April 30th that year!

USMAROTCFamily,

Thanks for sharing your experience. If nothing else my daughter is learning quite a few "adulting" skills going through this process.

Ta Da!!!! That's the point. Learning those skill sets under the watchful eyes of parents for course corrections. After 30 years in this job, you'd be amazed at how many parents who don't see these opportunities as teachable moments. Many would be amazed at how sharp some of these young people are, when they get their chance at the helm:spacecraft::rockon:

I 100% agree. It has been amazing watching the growth of my daughter as she has navigated this process. Regardless of outcome they will emerge a stronger more confident person.

Will look tonight. Have work to address for the next few hours :wiggle:

My daughter was in the same exact situation. The first available appointment with the assigned doc was two months away, and Dodmets was unable to provide an alternative. You can select your own provider but have to cover any costs.

We were fortunate that our medical insurance covered all the costs for the additional testing that was needed. Had we not gone this route, our DD would have not been cleared medically, before having to commit to her college choice by May 1st. We were unwilling to commit to the school without knowing if she would be cleared for her ROTC scholarship, to pay for it.

AdviceSeekingParent, USMAROTCFamily,

Thanks for the feedback. My daughter is working with the contractor now, but finding another provider is something that they are inquiring about.
