The medical evaluation timeline and deadline isn't clear to us.

I get that three of these must happen before their name is forwarded to the DoDMERB to schedule your examination.
  • Candidate Fitness Assessment (USAFA Form 158)
  • Candidate Personal Data Record (USAFA Form 146)
  • Candidate Activities Record (USAFA Form 147)
  • Teacher Evaluations (USAFA Form 145)
  • Writing Sample (USAFA Form 0-878)
But when in the process does the medical examination need to be complete for consideration? It can take up to 30 days to schedule your initial medical evaluation, 60 days for completion and possibly another 30 days for a medical waiver if required. This can result in up to a four-month process for candidates. Concern being that if we got three of the things complete today, That would put us into early February. Is it too late?

DoDMERB activity can go into late spring. The SA deadline is for the things the applicant can directly control.

Admissions can evaluate an application for admissibility without a complete medical clearance.

The key is once the applicant gets the go-ahead to schedule DoDMERB, they should get right on it, because the action is back in their hands at that moment.

I believe that you will be sent to DodMERB upon turning in your online Candidate Kit. This text is from the Instructions to Candidates 2027 booklet,
"
The following will occur once you submit your Candidate Kit:
Medical/Eye Exams: Your name will be forwarded to DoDMERB. Take your
exams as soon as possible after receiving DoDMERB instructions. If you haven’t
received information on scheduling your exams within two weeks of completing
your items, call DODMERB at 1-800-841-2706.
Admissions Liaison Officer (ALO): Evaluator ALO will be notified.
Candidate Fitness Assessment (CFA): Examiner will be notified.
"

The above is correct. Currently, our website is inop, but you will be contacted by CivTeam to go to www.dodmets.com, when the Academy has "downloaded you to us. Medical, does not really have a suspense at this juncture. Your focus should be your Admissions application; your CFA; and seeking your Nom(s). DoDMERB is a "don't call us, we'll call you operation" :wiggle:
