DoDMERB VS. MEPS

I would like to know the differences between the two besides one being for officership and the other is enlisting. which one is more detailed what exactly do they do? do they take blood? do x-rays? what? i honestly do not understand someone help me please! also a while back i had issues with receding gum line and i got surgery to replace my gums pleas don t tell me that would disqualify me?:eek:anyway thanks for any answers you give me and be easy
 
They're too different tests. I think MEPS may be slightly more detailed because one who is enlisting is going straight into service. DoDMERB does a pretty thorough physical, but once you get close to commissioning you take another physical which is much more in-depth. I don't recall DoDMERB taking blood or x-rays, but did take urine and had pretty detailed hearing and vision tests.

As mentioned, MEPS is a little more detailed since you often leave straight for basic that day. They do draw blood, urine and are a little more agressively looking at your orthpedic issues by having you complete a series of movements while in underwear so they can see your joints flex thru each movement. They both have vision and hearing and there is another very involved physical just prior to comissioning for officer candidates. In case you need specifics, I've done both MEPS and DodMerb, so if you have a question about how they are different (beyond what has already been explained) then ask away.
 
We also have the capability of getting a MEPS physical converted to a DODMERB physical. We forward the physical to DODMERB for review, and if everything is OK then you get DODMERB Q. It takes a PMS to request this, so you must be enrolled in ROTC to make this happen.
