I have been disqualified medically by DoDMERB for hearing in one ear and only one frequency. The USNA denied a waiver. I have been awarded a 4 year NROTC Marine Option Scholarship and I'm told each program sets their own standard for waivers what are the chances that BUMED will approve the waiver after USNA denied it, and how can I help with the waiver? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks

Google "DoDMERB;" Hit "Questions on the process;" You have met the criteria in paragraphs 11 and 13. Now, 15-19 and 21 will apply. BUMED had no input to your USNA waiver denial. It will be a totally separate review:wiggle:

Thank you for the reply and the info. I have scheduled a new hearing test for next week.

I took a hearing test yesterday at my own expense and all of my numbers are now within standards which shows the hearing loss was temporary (caused by duck hunting) . I submitted the information as you directed and now my status is Under DoDMERB review. BTW they were very responsive. I'm hoping this makes a difference. Is there anything else I should be doing?

No, except wait for the decision to be posted on your DoDMERB portal:wiggle:
