DoDMERB Website Down?

I finally finished getting my AMI sent by the CIV team recently, and I've been trying to check the DodMERB website for updates, but it has been down for the past 4 days. I was wondering if anyone knows when it would come back up, and how long it would take to process all the documents that have been sent in during this time?

Wish I could give you a better answer, but I can't:

Maintenance

10/4/2022 as of 10:49 AM MDT- We apologize for the inconvenience, DoDMERB’s computer systems are currently offline. We are vigorously working the issue, but do not yet have an estimated recovery date. Please continue to check the website for updates.

Applicants – any documents submitted after 21 September have not been processed. Once we are operational again, we will process them in the order they were received.
ROTC Dets – applicants submitted for exam authorization will be approved once we’re operational. If there are extenuating circumstances requiring immediate approval, please email our helpdesk at: dha.ncr.dod-merb.mbx.helpdesk@health.mil

If AMI documents were sent in back in August through a ROTC unit HRA at his college and the website still said awaiting AMI prior to it going down is there anyway for the applicant to verify someone has his paperwork. He has emailed his contact at the bottoms of his AMI paperwork however she has automatic reply that “she is out of the office.” He then emailed the help desk and someone said the site is down. He is just trying to verify if his paperwork has been received since for 5 weeks after it was submitted the website still said awaiting AMI. When he submitted directly to the DODMERB contact it was typically verified within 24 hrs.

Regrettably, the current status is posted at https://dodmerb.tricare/osd/mil. We would not be able to answer the question at this time.

Hi! I have a question that hopefully, someone can shed some light on - maybe @MullenLE ?

My son won a 4-year ROTC scholarship, which is supposed to begin this fall (his freshman year). However, the DodMERB site being down is preventing him from contracting because it needs to reflect his revised DodMERB approval date of September 24th.

I assume that his tuition and books will be paid retroactively to the university. However, the additional financial impact is that he isn't receiving his monthly stipend as a contracted cadet either. The longer the site is down, the longer cadets (in his situation) go without the living stipend of $400+ a month, which is a MAJOR benefit of the scholarship. Plus, if the site doesn't come back up until next semester, will the university allow cadets to remain students if tuition is still unpaid? In that situation, would a parent need to take out a bank loan for private school tuition and then be expected to pay interest on the loan until the Army can reimburse the parent?

Because this is a government website issue (and not the fault of the cadet), will the monthly stipends be paid retroactively as well, once the site is up and running? It seems like there would be some type of confirmation process that can happen behind the scenes (in situations like this) so that computer maintenance issues don't cascade into a multitude of headaches and hardships for so many. Holding up payment for scholarships greatly impacts students' lives as they are trying to navigate a new phase of life. I do see the note about "extenuating circumstances." Wouldn't this be an extenuating circumstance and if so, who would I contact that can truly help? Thanks for any information anyone can provide!

We've been actively engaged already :wiggle:

Hi Mr. Mullen,

I know you have no definitive answers and the staff is working diligently on the issue, which I really appreciate. But I want to ask, could this outage last through the end of the year? I heard this may be the case.

I didn't say that, so whomever you heard it from, has no idea what they're talking about.

Even positing that on a public website, is not very responsible.

I'm a straight shooter and always have been here. So, unless I say it, anything else is pure fiction.

The great thing about the military is it plans for “poop happens.” DoDMERB has a mission to support the induction of military members, and I have complete faith that the leadership will get it done by plowing through, around, over or under obstacles. Could be messy, could be off the usual timeline, but they’ll get there. Fortunately, the SAs can proceed with determining admissibility on other fronts and if needed, play catch-up on factoring in medical. It’s a team that has long been in harness together.

Mr. Mullen is there another pathway or email for ROTC scholarship kids who are currently on medical waiver pending to get their medical reviewed until this technology issue is being figured out.

My son received a 4 yr Army ROTC Scholarship. He was late responding to a request from DoDMERB and then it took a while due to a hiccup at his university. All of that to say, he did not get any retro $$. It may vary from school to school but I just wanted to give you a heads up. Also, this is his 2nd year now and he did not receive he monthly stipend until his 2nd month of class and has yet to receive his larger semester $. We had no idea that it could take this long. Luckily for him and us he lives at home and the money is going into savings but if he had gotten an apartment or needed to contribute to the house it could have really hurt.

Good Morning Mr. Mullen,

I am a service academy and ROTC applicant who is awaiting DoDMERB qualifications in order to complete my application. Is there any way I could have someone check on the status of that for me.

Regrettably no. We have no visibility of anyone in the system. But as an Academy applicant, there is plenty of time. As an ROTC applicant, they're just conducting their boards now. :wiggle:

Hi Mr. Mullen,

I am a service academy applicant and have been contacted by DoDMERB to submit further forms (all of my medical evaluations are complete but will not be filed until they see these forms), but the website is still down. I have some questions about the process and what I should plan to do. Can I contact you? Thank you!
