Actually NO....there is no EXPEDITED Waiver process, it is a Waiver Process and will proceed in accordance with the particular academy's needs and the medical info and exams that are needed, and whether or not your particular condition is waiverable. But to say the process is "Expedited" is not correct. The Waiver process is the waiver process and if the academy deems they want you, they will initiate the waiver process, but as far as I know there is no "Expedited" process, just the normal process. Try and remember, NOTHING is guaranteed and nothing is expedited unless you are something special. some waivers are fast, and some are not so fast, but none as far as I understand are "Expedited".

I can only speak to my experience, which is yes they will expedite the process, but I believe it is taken case-by-case. What condition(s) need waiving? How many waivers can they give for this condition? How many other highly ranked candidates have this condition and need it to be waived? I would imagine all of those things go into the process. They will initiate it when they initiate it. It's a painful wait.

As everyone told me when I was going through DoDMERB for the last couple months, "welcome to the military, now hurry up and wait."

What I meant to say was that their DQ's will be automatically processed for waivers and granted (or not) based off of a case by case basis.

+1 @RM78 I think you are absolutely correct in that if you have a LOA that the academy that gave you the LOA will definitely pursue a waiver. How long it takes depends on the issue(s) and complexity. But YES, a WAIVER WILL BE INITIATED if you have a LOA...:)

But that doesn't mean it will be necessarily expedited above others with an LOA who need waivers.

Much of the above is correct. An LOA means the Academy will pursue medical waiver consideration. There is NO expedited process. Waivers are on a case by case basis and are dependent on the number, type, and availability of the required Academy specialists to review a specific applicant. Some applicants may have multidisciplinary DQs (asthma-Pulmonology/Allergist/or Internal Medicine and an orthopedic injury - Orthopod)
