It does count in most situations. Check the following court case that was recently decided in California.

That case appears to be in regards to federal retirement which as noted above is a different animal.

Correct. You will enter at commissioning, if not prior enlisted, as an O-1 under 2 years of service.

Rob, the section you refer to credits service academy time towards retirement credit for the "CIVIL SERVICE RETIREMENT SYSTEM" and the "FEDERAL EMPLOYEES’ RETIREMENT SYSTEM". Neither of those are the military retirement system. For the military retirement system, service academy is not creditable.

You have to submit paper work to have your military time (including Academy time) added to your federal time.
