Is there a place that has a schedule or who to contact for Doolie Day Out? My husband is a '90 grad and his sponsors are sponsoring our son but they haven't been contacted about where and what time to pick the kids up on Saturday and when they have to be back.

Just a guess ... but having your son ask his cadre might be a good place to start. The cadre employ the schedule, so they know.... :wiggle:

Scroll to the FAQ section - there is a phone number for the office responsible for the sponsor program and my guess is they know all there is to know about

Doolie Dining Out - if they don’t - they will know who will

The cadre won’t know or care. This is the day 1st BCT staff leaves while 2d BCT staff comes on board

Assignment letters to host families for Doolie Day Out have not been sent out yet from the sponsor office.
They are usually sent just a few days before DDO.

For Doolie Day Out, it's my understanding that all doolies will go, right? It may not be their family for the year. I don't think most of them have been told the process to get a family.

The DDO sponsor may not be their official (academic) sponsor. Many only volunteer that one day and they take many BCs. New sponsors are probably still in the queue for background checks, etc.

Don't worry. ALL Basic Cadets will be placed during DDO. All of them, no exceptions.

How does my son apply for one after BCT?

Thanks!

Sponsors are assigned unless there is a by-name request. For example, my DS's sponsor is a squadron mate of mine from "forever ago". It is awesome because he is a grad, a pilot, and we share the same outlook on life. When my son "whines", he listens, then tells him to put his big girl panties on and get back to it:) His sponsor has one another cadet AND his wife gladly takes in any strays she finds and feeds them...

T-371P is correct.
However, there appears to be a shortage of sponsor families, so many go to their roommates' sponsor family (always ask first)

If your cadet does not have a sponsor family assigned by the end of August, they (not parents) can send an email to cadet.sponsor@usafa.edu and let them know that they still need one.

As I said, some are adopted by their roommate's sponsors, so its good to let the sponsor office know you still need one if that situation arises.

This will signify the end of BCT1 and the start of BCT2. Flight Cadre will change as well.
