Can you double major if you validate enough courses? I'd like to major in both Mechanical Engineering (or something similar like systems engineering) and a foreign language. Any insight is appreciated.

Yes, it is possible, but those Mechanical Engineering is one of the hardest majors at the academy. I would recommend majoring in Mech-E (if you want to) and minoring in a foreign language. If you feel you have enough time to make it an additional major then you should do it.

Agree with RedStAr.

Possible, but little crossover in common prerequisites between engineering and foreign languages - you would need to validate or overload quite a bit. For example, MA 205 Calculus II is required for Mechanical Engineering and other STEM majors such as Electrical Engineering and Physics, but is not a prerequisite for Foreign Languages.

You could definitely double Systems and a language. I have a friend who is doing so and does not have an overloaded schedule. MechE, not so much. You could pick up a minor (this is what I am doing) however it is impossible to double major with it.
