How does double majoring work at West Point? Is it similar to other schools or different because of how strict the schedules are?

Not sure exactly. I know it is possible; however, very tough. You certainly would not be able to double major and be involved with clubs, as far as I know. Hopefully someone else with more experience will add on to what I have to say.

Would a major and a minor be as tough?

I was hoping to double major as well. By chance, does anyone know if USMA allows "double-dipping" where taking a single course required by both majors would count towards both majors? Or, would you have to take the same course two separate times? (Or am I totally wrong with all of this?) I've been looking online for a few days and I haven't found much information on this subject yet.

I also asked my RC about some of the course that I took at a civilian college. She told me USMA want to encourage incoming Cadets to purse their interested major or double major by accepting some of the credits but you have to take harder classes if you don't want to take CHEM 1 again.

No, definitely not as tough. I think everyone has a major and a minor.

Not trying to discourage you from a double major, don't get me wrong. Just know that it is a significant commitment, in addition to all your military duties and mandatory athletics.

You might wish to look at the curriculum as outlined in the USMA Redbook...it will help describe the courses that are required within each of the majors and minors. You can think about it now but you will be provided details once you get to school.

Here is the link. You can walk through the year by year requirements and the open spots in the schedule to focus on your major/s and minor.
