Dd is a 250 AFROTC. On board for PFT but not selected( command didn’t have time to get to know her) Dodmerb DQ’d early April for hx asthma, eczema, myopia but she could appeal. She collected rx histories, and exams, plus MD statements that these are not current issues. She was DQ’d.
She has strong desire to serve. Does she have a chance with any other branch & if so, what’s next step?

Eczema is tough one but not impossible if her prescription does not steroid creams or any other strong drugs other than hydrocortisone. Best of luck.

I'm just a parent, so I don't know, but ds was dq'd for migraines and USAFA eventually failed to waiver him (I think in early March) so we thought it was all over and moved on to plan B. A couple weeks later, however, USNA suddenly popped up and asked for all the AMI's etc in order to pursue a waiver. Two weeks ago they gave him a conditional appointment and yesterday waiver came through!

Thanks for that encouraging info. What was plan b by the way? Dd has an appt with Nrotc next week to ask whether she has a chance for waiver with them?If not, maybe Arotc. She really wants to serve.

Plan B was University of Idaho and AFROTC, the ROTC portion was withdrawn because of being medically dq'd. He is considering NROTC now as a "walk on" but will likely do Marching band instead. Right now, his goal is to become a civil engineer, but may shift into other engineering fields. He is also enrolled in UI's Honors College, which opens doors to numerous internships and special projects. He does not regret reaching for that brass ring by applying to the service academies, feels a little twinge for turning down USNA, and is super excited to head for college this fall.

ETA...He now understands there are many ways to serve and will always pursue being in service to his community and his country. All these kids who follow through on the commitment to apply to a service academy, whether or not they actually attend, are simply amazing to me in how strong their desire is to give back to their community.

I agree! These kids are amazing in their zeal to give back. Best of luck to your son.
