My DS was notified by DODMERB that he was medically disqualified under D224.41, Stress fracture, during the past year. He is in the process of completing his applications to USNA and USMMA.
DS suffered a very minor stress fracture in his lower leg in late April 2023. The only treatment was a walking boot for a month to allow the fracture to heal. He was cleared by the doctor in late June as completely healed.
The DODMERB letter states the medical waiver authority at each academy will review it for consideration of a waiver.
My question is what are his chances of being granted a waiver?

I don’t have the exact situation to share from, but my DS had a stress fracture 5/22. His was pretty severe. He had to submit AMI to DoDMERB including complete medical records for the injury and complete a questionnaire about sports participation. He received Qualified status for USCGA and USAFA (only SA he applied to). It was clear from his sports achievements the stress fracture isn’t affecting him. However, I do think I read somewhere that it has to be a certain amount of time (maybe 2 year) that’s passed between stress fracture and admission. I hope your DS will be eligible for a waiver. I’d get the records ready to send so you have everything you need.

Thank you for sharing that information. We will start getting the medical records from the doctor.
