Hi all, the Eagle is visiting a port near our home and luckily our Swab will be phasing in for his one week short. The schedule is posted below with public tours listed from 10-5 on Saturday and Sunday. Does anyone have advice on when would be the best time to pop in over the weekend?

The liberty schedule won't be released until they're on the ship most likely, but if you're close by and okay with just being able to see him while touring the ship even if he doesn't have liberty, then either day should be fine. Last year we met my son in Portland and were really lucky that he got liberty both days, but I know others got much less. Portland wasn't that close for us, but we enjoyed that weekend way more than the Mystic Flag weekend and were so happy we did it, so if you're close enough to be flexible, maybe just leave the weekend open and see what his schedule is!

Thanks, we are very close and will definitely flex our Semper Gumby muscles. We have an annual family party on Saturday but that is only 1 hour away. Still easy to do both. Did your DS have his cell phone so you could communicate or did you have to see him to find out his schedule?

They get their cell phones for the Eagle, so he’ll be able to contact you!

Swabs from Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie won't be on Eagle on Saturday the 27th, at least not during the day, as they'll be at the Mystic Flag Ceremony. They will be granted liberty from the Academy from 1:30 to 6 pm. The Flag Day schedule was posted to Facebook yesterday. No word yet on when exactly they'll head to Eagle, but I'm guessing either Saturday evening or Sunday.

As always, this is completely subject to Semper Gumby! 😁

I'm wondering if the companies headed up to Eagle will have a truncated amount of liberty after the Flag Ceremony. We are having a difficult time deciding if we should head down to the flag ceremony. It is only a 3 hour drive for us to campus so even if we miss our Swab we would still get to enjoy the ceremony. We are 10 minutes from the Eagle when it is in Portsmouth, NH. Does anyone have any idea when or if the details for the Eagle will be released?

There's been no specific word that I'm aware of. At least not amongst the Parent Association Comm team.

It sort of surprises me that ABC is set to have liberty after Flag, only because that would put them up there awfully late Saturday night or not until Sunday morning. The 3/c cadets need to get back to the academy to start their leave. I'm assuming they'd be returning on the buses that take the swabs. But maybe not! Who knows! Anyone's guess at this point!

I totally agree although it does go against the information coming out about Flag. Oh well, I guess we will find out in real time! Thanks for the reply.

I heard today it sounds like the 3/c cadets currently on Eagle are busing back to New London first thing Saturday morning, and then Eagle Cadre are heading up to Portsmouth Saturday. Sounds like the swabs will be going up early Sunday morning. If that's the case, seems as if the phase 1 Eagle swabs will indeed have full liberty after Flag like everyone else.

Sorry, I tend to maintain a certain degree of healthy skepticism when it comes to any scheduled events there. Things have a tendency to turn on a dime for all kinds of crazy reasons, so I always like to think of what-if scenarios.

We received an e-mail from the Parents Association stating that ALL companies will attend and get liberty on Sat 7/27 from 1:30pm to 6pm EST. Parents will also have 1hr with their SWABS from 8:30 to 9:30 AM EST before the ceremony starts at Fort Trumbull on the waterfront in New London.

DS is in Bravo so we're excited to see him and his shipmates albeit for only a few hours.
