Hello,
My daughter is currently a freshman in high school who is set on attending USNA. She has a 4.0 GPA, is taking all honors classes and two APs, is involved with several extracurriculars including varsity sports, scored in 99th percentile for PSATs, and overall has many positive aspects for a competitive candidate. However, she had an eating disorder (other unspecified - EDNOS) in the sixth grade when she was twelve years old. She has completely recovered with no relapse; it has already been almost three years. I've read on the medical examination PDF from the academy's website that history of eating disorders is an automatic disqualification, but have also read on other threads that it is only harmful if it occurred after the thirteenth birthday. Would anyone be able to clarify the DQ policy regarding eating disorders, including regarding the thirteenth birthday and possibility of waivers? My daughter was planning on taking NJROTC next year but wanted to refocus her plans if admission would be impossible due to her history with the disorder.
Thank you so much for all your help! We really appreciate it.
