Elemental leader

Can someone please tell me what an elemental leader is at the academy? We have 0 military knowledge.
 
You’d need more context to explain it. They used to refer to 2-degree BCT cadre on the flight level as element leaders but when the numbers of cadre were reduced this position was changed to the title of Flight NCO. If this is the position you are talking about then they are essentially the cadre that interact with a basic flight on a daily level and teach them all the military things they need to know I.e. Drill, Knowledge, courtesies and also take them all the places they need to be.
 
I noticed my son in the front marching. He is class of 2025. When I asked him why he was in front he said he is a elemental leader.

In this context, he is leading a particular column of the marching formation referred to as an element and is therefore an element leader.

See the diagram below. The elements leaders are labeled 1 through 4.

When DS was in BCT, those positions were height dependent -- taller people in front. Not sure if that is the case now
 
My DD said that it was squadron dependent how often they had different Element Leaders and Flight Chief. Her BCT flight switched Element Leaders but they had the same Flight Chief for all BCT. They do go tall to short except for A-Day, which is an inverse wedge (short to tall). We got Webguy gold as she was an element leader on A-Day and led the base file for A-Day practice!

She would say key words like base file, element leader, flight chief, tapping...and so I tried to find something on youtube and this seemed to match what they were doing in Inspection pictures.

 
At enlisted BMT an element leader was 1 of 4 people that stands at the front of a marching formation. There are 4 elements, or columns, in a formation, and each element dresses, or lines up behind, their element leader. Depending on where you are, there are assigned element leaders, or it is whoever is tallest. I was an element leader in enlisted BMT, and had other duties aside from marching at the front, which is why it wasn't just who was tall. Hope this helped.
