I've been at this a little while now with two kids and multiple academies, but this is the first time I recall my kid getting email solicitations to apply/finish his application. For example, "Your exceptional high school record has caught the attention of our admissions staff, so if you haven't already done so, I encourage you to complete your application file" and "We already believe you're a strong fit for the United States Military Academy at West Point."

Does this mean anything? Regular colleges do this sort of thing all the time, but none of the SAs my kids have applied to in the past have done this. With all the posts about LOE and LOA, I figured I'd ask.

My son never got an email encouragement letter from USNA. From what I have seen over the years (including his year applying where his friend got an LOE from USMA) - it’s a West Point thing.

It means what it says. They like what they see and encourage you to continue. Many people get it so I wouldn’t read into beyond that. They don’t know the competition on a slate this early.

I got it yesterday well, this is my second email of this sort, so I learned to measure my excitement haha. Certainly can't be a bad sign though!

I'd be willing to bet that its just how the new director of admissions likes to do outreach, different director different methods.
