I may be wrong but I believe EOD has an officer billet but dive is enlisted billet. Check with a recruiterIs there an existing route for midshipmen to enter the Navy EOD/diving school pipeline upon graduation?
New Navy EOD warfare community officers attend Navy Dive School as part as their EOD pipeline training. Is there an existing route for midshipmen to enter the Navy EOD/diving school pipeline upon graduation?
Would this two weeks replace the traditional summer cruise? To go the EOD route, your second class year you need to apply to their "summer cruise". If accepted you will attend for I believe two weeks during the summer going from 2nd class year to 1st class year.
One data point: Of my 3 KP DS's, one entered the Navy CEC after graduating in '11. In the CEC, he was with the SeaBees in the US, Africa, and Asia. After several years, the Navy offered to pay for him to get a MS in ocean studies, and then sent him to the Navy Dive School in Panama City, to go through its four month program. When graduated, he was certified as a Diving Officer (fyi, about six years after KP). From there, the Navy posted him to one of its dive "lockers" where he commanded divers. He did not plan this route or destination, but he has certainly enjoyed the ride.Is there an existing route for midshipmen to enter the Navy EOD/diving school pipeline upon graduation?
Very interesting as we are researching the CEC collegiate program as another option for my DS who’s applying to USNA & NROTC. My uncle was a reservist after Vietnam in the SeaBees 🐝- really interesting program...One data point: Of my 3 KP DS's, one entered the Navy CEC after graduating in '11. Ask around, but I understood that excellent KP grades were a must to be considered for the relatively small Navy CEC community. But the hard work involved to get there was worth it.Very interesting as we are researching the CEC collegiate program as another option for my DS who’s applying to USNA & NROTC. Did you find the “right” officer recruiter? Thanks! He’ll be working w/ a Navy Officer Recruiter to confirm all of the details for this program and NUPOC 😊.
He did! Easy, peasy for us since he’s in IL. He’ll be contacting the recruiter from GL. Our conference/district *finally* gave the OK for a very limited HS basketball season (< 6 weeks 😢) so he’s been focused on that recently- the chance to be a kid one last time & have some fun as a senior.... he has a task list that I have to let him drive 😉.....Did you find the “right” officer recruiter?
