For an essay prompt that just says “one-to-two page essay”, should it be double spaced or single spaced? I’m guessing the font would be Calibri or Times New Roman, sized 11 or 12.

You can ask the MOC staff person to be sure. They probably are letting you decide. 11 New Times 1 1/2 line spacing works well. The most important thing is the essay...tell you're unique story. Remember most have high grades, strong SATs, etc. Talk about what makes you different and perhaps an event or role that you learned from.

Sometimes, the essays also have a word count limit that can help you decide whether single or double-spaced will work. I believe college standard essays tend to be double-spaced, and that is usually what the admissions essays, including for MOCs, are expected to be.

This one didn’t specify a word count, it just said “one-to-two page essay”. I will use double spacing though! Thank you!

Based on my observation from DS applications to SA, noms, colleges: most asked for 500-max words, which normally fits one letter-size page. One asked for max 2500 characters. Remember the people reviewing your essay read a LOT of other applicants essays and probably won't spend much time on it.

So my suggestion is to write a 500-word essay first so you can put in the most important things you want to say concisely. Use spell checker and grammar checker. Have an English teacher critique it, if you can. Then copy that file, create the longer essays by expounding more on the main paragraph topics or adding a new supporting paragraph. Again, spell check and grammar check.

Then you worry about the pagination, if there's such a requirement.
