Hello, I am trying to get in the best shape possible for my physical, are there any certain workout routines you all did or know that helped you or have heard were helpful with getting in shape for the academy? Any information or advice would be appreciated.

Thank you for reading.

Google Stew Smith CFA. Look forward him on YouTube demo’ing various CFA elements. He’s a USNA grad, former SEAL, fitness pro.

I would focus on your cardio (running, biking, swimming, etc...), and your calisthenics (pull ups, pushups, situps, etc...). Getting in the gym and lifting is great, but won't help as much as cardio and calisthenics training.

If you are going to prep for the CFA, you should also check out Mountain Tactical for tips and hints on how to improve. Overall, the advice above is spot on. Working on your cardio is key to develop stamina because the CFA tests your stamina as much as your strength. As you train the exercises, focus on doing them to the standard (correctly) versus high repetitions. I have seen a number of candidates who knock out high numbers (particularly push-ups) only to have them rejected as not correct form.
