Hello,

I am trying to figure out what the difference is between the extracurricular activity section and the resume section of the application? They both ask about your extracurricular activities, such as athletics, awards, work/volunteer, etc. I feel like it'll be redundant writing about the same thing in both sections...

Additionally, I was wondering if I am allowed to put my High School achievements in the resume section of the application? The resume section says, "...during college and/or while enlisted", however, I did very notable achievements during High School, and I feel like it'll help me in the application process. (I'm a LEAD applicant).

Any answers are much appreciated.

Hello @Park535,

I'm a USAFA applicant parent for this year.

I had the same question about the apparent overlap between the extra curricular section and the resume section of the USAFA application when trying to guide my DS. Seems maybe your question was overlooked/not sure why you didn't get more answers.

We studied the candidate instructions carefully and could see that in the resume section they are inviting you to provide more details whereas the extra-curricular section is a simple list (that to me seems like it will end up populating a spreadsheet for the admissions team to help them sort thru applicants).

I'm going to guide my DS to list everything in the extra-curricular section over again in the resume section with more supporting detail. But the resume section will include more items than what are in the extra-curricular section. And the extra curricular section will be a subset he should really emphasize.

This thread also says something similar.

Regarding HS achievements, if you are a HS graduate now enrolled in college or are an airmen, the candidate instructions say:
"...Ensure your resume includes both high school activities and what you have done since high school."

My DS has college credits due to being in an "early college" program. He's mentioning these in his Academic Achievements in the resume section.

Best of luck to you!
