I have accepted my Offer of Appointment and I just realized something. Do I have to fill out FASFA for the Academy? I will not be applying for any scholarships. Thank you!

However, if something happens between now and the day you report, will your plan B require it?

We filled out the FAFSA only to protect him in case something happened before he reported. We only did it that one time. He now graduates this May.

I was talking to a college re-applicant who had been accepted into the Class of 2021, after he washed out during Plebe summer for the Class of 2020. He has said that candidates should file FAFSA to plan B,C,D, etc. schools just in case they do wash-out of Plebe summer or do not receive official appointments.
But, to answer your question, no. You do not need to fill out a FAFSA for the Naval Academy. Plus, I don't think Naval Academy is even one of the options when filling out FAFSA.

Do tell, how does someone “wash out” during Plebe Summer get readmitted? I can understand if he/she got hurt... but wash out?

BGO, I don't know too much about the whole Plebe Summer process so do please excuse my lack of understanding. From what the Midshipman told me, there were those that did not quite make it all the way to the end of plebe summer for whatever reason. This Midshipman referred to these individuals as wash-outs.

I think what the BGO is saying is that if they washed out of plebe summer, they don't don't go back. They are no longer midshipmen.

Thank you for that clarification.
