I’m a high school senior who was selected for NASS this summer. I have a 28 ACT, 4.0 GPA. I have a letter in Track as well as Cross Country. I’m the BC for my JROTC unit. What are my chances of actually getting a LOA? Is April the earliest we will find out? Thanks in advance.

Also, I had strabismus surgery at age 14. I have 20/20 and no further issues at all. Does that decrease my chances?

Let's see, Good grades, athlete, leadership with JROTC.....Yup, based upon your self description you sound like most of the other candidates you are competing against. Nobody can tell you the chances of getting an LOA, but really who cares ....your goal is an Appointment, not an LOA.

Seriously, you hit the areas USNA is looking for, but none of the information you provided stands out as exceptional. Alot depends on where you are , and who you are competing with. Higher ACT's would be helpful (I would recommend you retake the ACT , and take the SAT --some people do better on one than the other).

History of strabismus surgery is considered disqualifying for all aviation duty.
Apply away, nonetheless. There are a lot of other things you can do in the Navy or Marine Corps.
