I reached out to my FFR regarding an interview, they agreed a day later and asked some basic information such as where I lived and if I wanted to do it online. After I responded they didn’t respond for a week so I sent a follow up email to which they haven’t responded either in a little over a week. My file is completly complete including two nominations and I am only waiting on this interview. I know the earlier I get my file in the sooner I can get accepted and the greater my chances. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do?

I don’t think your chances are greater the sooner you get it in.

I recommend giving the FFR another week. They are all volunteers and usually have day jobs too. If you have the FFR's phone number, then you may want to leave a message. In another week without a response, then you may want to reach out to the contact for your state to see it s/he knows of any reason for the delay and can s/he assist you in reaching the FFR.

Typically FF will want to interview you at this time of the year based upon their priorities and the competitiveness of your file. If you are not happy with the timeliness of FFs responses to you, then reach out to your FF district coordinator or state coordinator (that is what I am). Not all FF and statewide resources are created equal across the US. I am the state coordinator in a state that has a pretty good compliment of dedicated FF congressional district coordinators and FF Reps. We have an ongoing dialog with our top candidates beginning early in the cycle mostly based on strength of test scores and speed of file completion. So almost all of our top candidates have all already been interviewed over the past few months. There are always a few exceptions here and there and some candidates late to the game have good reasons for that. Be patient and use your phone. Reach out and politely ask for input as to strength of file, talk about your backup plans (ROTC), reapply next year, etc. and then let the conversation naturally evolve to the F2F interview. Good luck.

Thank you for the responses. I was worrying over nothing, I should have just waited instead of posting this thread. On my file only the state coordinator was listed so that was who I emailed the first time. In retrospect she was just busy and got back to me early last week and I had my interview last weekend. Thankfully the FFR she set me up with was very supportive and said he felt good about my chances. He was also surprised no one reached out regarding my interview sooner.

Waiting for anything is hard, especially when it comes to something this big in your young life. You've probably heard this before, but this process is a roller coaster ride that you are strapped into upside down, backwards, and blindfolded. Some people are getting appointments now, some will get them DAYS before they graduate from high school. None of that means some are "better" than others. It's just how the system works. And if you get in (fingers crossed), expect the ride to continue. Just wait until everyone starts obsessing over what kind and how many socks to take to beast
