Hi,
I recently did my field force interview. I felt like I had solid answers, but my delivery wasn't great. Is this a huge part of my application, or do I still have a chance if I didn't do great? Hope to hear from some people.

From what I understand, the FFR is sending the information you provided in their own words. When I have done them in the past, my FFR asked me the questions and then had me type up responses to submit to USMA. Unless I am completely mistaken, what is given to USMA is not a transcript of the interview, but a more general observation. I doubt that your delivery will have much bearing on the answers that are submitted. Plus, a TON of people are normally nervous during interviews (myself included). This is something that will smooth out over time as you interview for other schools, jobs, etc.

I don’t know how much weight the FFR holds.
My DS interviewed with an FFR who was certainly biased toward another applicant. It was an alum that worked with the mom of another applicant.
I’m an Army vet and I understand the good-old-boy system, but it seems a little dirty. Just sayin...

How did you schedule your interview? I reached out to my FFR but no response.
From what I've heard, the FFR's have a ton of people emailing them so I'm sure they'll get in contact soon; that said, I'm sure a follow up email couldn't hurt. Good luck!

A Field Force Rep should reach out to you proactively when your application is near completion (to include passing the CFA) and your file is deemed ‘competitive’ by the RC.

Ok thank you. I first reached out back in summer when only very few basic things had been checked off. Right now, all that is left is the CFA which I will be takig this week, so that will complete everything on my application. I will reach out to him again after the CFA box has been checked.

My DS had his FaceTime interview just over a week ago and DS was contacted by FFR for the appointment. DS was complimented on wearing a suit and tie and FFR even asked if he got a haircut for the interview (which he did, although he used the opportunity to emphasize his ROTC participation and necessa haircut standards). Last year there was a required green check for FFR interview on the WP portal, this year there is no required interview listed on the portal. I wonder if it is not 100% required due to COVID?

My understanding is the interview is a requirement for Class of 2025. There is a box in the FFR portal that shows if the candidate's interview is on file and the date on which the interview was held. Due to COVID the interviews are primarily done via Zoom.

It is required starting for class of 2025, so you will get the interview.

What are your sources for stating the FFR interview is "required" for 2025? What box are you referring to in the "FFR portal"? Do you mean the FFR page on the applicant portal?

Correct. There is no box for a green "check" for the FFR interview on the Application Overview page. There is also no mention of any FFR interview in the Application Instructions Booklet for this year.

At best it seems it is up to the individual FFR as to whether there is an interview or not. Anyone with confirmed direction or requirements for a FFR interview for the Class of 2025 should weigh in.

On my portal, there is no requirement for an FFR interview. However, I was contacted by my FFR (who was contacted by my RC) to conduct an interview, which was done late last week via Facetime.

I am an FFR in my congressional district and can assure you there is a box on each candidate’s page on the FFR portal view that has a box showing the date of the candidate’s interview (it is blank until such time as the FFR has conducted the interview and submitted the electronic form to Admissions). Usually only candidates classified as ‘Competitive’ will be given an interview.

Thanks for the information. It appears there has been a fair amount of variance on the FFR interview issue this year.

My daughter was contacted in July and had hers in person. We are in the Southeast.

From admissions portion of website - Steps to Admission:

Interview
All candidates require an interview as part of their application. You will be contacted by a West Point Admissions Field Force representative to schedule the interview.
