Can anyone give me any information on field hockey at USNA? My daughter attended NASS in and met some mids who play. We were told recently by the regional B&G that the field hockey team at USNA that was "close to becoming club". My daughter plays Varsity in HS and we were wondering how to contact the coach. There is no info on the website. She emailed someone in the athletic department but has not heard back.

The Field Hockey Team is considered a club team but not yet up on the athletic site. They started it about four years ago and have had some problems with coaching and Officer in charge. They reached out last year for a coach and a retired Olympic Team coach who lives in the area volunteered and is coaching this year. They play against many of the local college club teams and some club tournaments. Under NCAA rules a club team may decide to be all women or co-ed? It is a shock the first time you see your daughter playing against a team with male players! I will try to get you some contact information.

Thanks so much for the information. I had no idea that they had co-ed field hockey teams, although my daughter told me that at her field hockey camp this summer many of the instructors were guys from the Netherlands, so she didn't seem as surprised. Any contact info you could give me would be great. She is attending CVW in November, couldn't make the October date because of field hockey, of course. We are only 3 hours away from Annapolis, so hoping maybe we could manage to find their schedule and attend a game. Thanks again! :)

Trying to get some info for your daughter to contact. Unfortunately twelve thousand miles has some delays. We are checking back and forth for a contact. Daughter told me that they had two male players this last season. One exchange from Pakistan (One of their major national sports) and one who lived in New Zealand for eight years. Will try to get you the contact before CVW so she can contact someone while she is there. Will also work on the updated schedule. Don't worry about male players. The first time my daughter went by one while he was standing still it became not a big deal to play against male players. Male goalies do seem to be tough though.

12,000 miles? Wow. May I ask where you are? Thanks again for your information on the field hockey team. The part about the male goalies is especially interesting. My daughter is a goalie and I don't know that she could compete with the guys on this. :frown:

She is doing a semester abroad and we have a 12 hour time difference. Navy does not have any male goalies. Goalies are hard to come by in any sport.:thumb: She is checking with the team captain for contact information.

KMC: I sent you a PM with the contact information. Good luck.

Thank you so very much for the info. I will pass it along to my daughter. You have been so helpful and I appreciate your encouragement. I can't thank you enough.
