If I am interested in flying for Airforce after graduation is it necessary that I must decide during my Plebe year? I heard from others that you must let them know during the first year so they can monitor you throughout the next 3 years is that true???

Let the Air Force liaison know you have an interest. There is no obligation but he will answer any questions the next few years, follow your progress, and, if desired, help you get an internship between sea terms. Early in your 1st class year you can apply for an Air Force commission and, if accepted, your status will be changed from Naval Reserve to AFROTC scholarship cadet. Liaisons are readily available from all the uniformed services. This is one of KP's strong points. Check them all out.

This is a reminder that the nation's needs may impact your ability to commission active duty, especially in the Air Force.

The U.S. faces a massive mariner shortage, which is only getting worse. Upon graduation, you might be required to sail in the merchant marine, or the Academy might limit the number of graduates on active duty.

If you want to fly for the Air Force, I highly recommend seeking an Air Force ROTC scholarship.
