I'm looking into the national call to service enlistment (two year active, two year reserve) as a third option in case I don't get into an SA or ROTC. I would probably enlist as an 11B or 0311, with an end goal of becoming an infantry officer upon completion of college. Is it possible to transfer the two year reserve component over to ROTC?

It says on the website that you can do green to gold with 2 years AD. So I'm assuming that would work with a 2 year AD enlistment.

What are the chances of being called up through the reserves while in college?

Once you are part of ROTC, you become non-deployable. Not sure how this is affected by being in the reserves.

Talk to a local Army recruiter about your options. One came to our house and explained it all to my son.. I wasn't there, but what I understand is if you do a simultaneous program, you drill while in college with reserve unit, but will not be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. recruiter made sure that son understood that those were the only 2 places right now that were off the table if in that program. Implied that other places were not off the table.
