I've seen many posts about these socks. What color socks are allowed for Cadets? Are these socks good for Low Quarters or just for boots?

You will want the tan or green Fox River socks to be worn only with your OCP's. Socks for low quarters are limited to black dress socks.

Are black socks not authorized anymore? Those were the color I purchased, and I was fine, and have been fine, since I've been here.

USMA hasn't posted a packing list yet for R-Day so we have no clue what to purchase besides boots and low quarters.

Yes Black Fox Rivers are fine. Tan/Green Fox Rivers are just a lot more common. West Point goes by the same standards as the Army, so uniform questions are usually easily answered by referring to AR 670-1.

Black is perfectly normal here. All of my boot socks are either black (Fox Rivers) or green (issued).

If you do black boot socks, you can wear them as athletic or dress socks if you're in a pinch. Just my advice.
