My dad was at The Ohio State between 1964-68 evidently they had enough cadets that there was a BG cadet rank.
They were down for training at FT Knox and the Cadet BG called over and spoke to an active duty CPT.
He asked him to send out a few tanks for the cadets to see....

Well he forgot to mention he was a cadet...This is BG XYZ and I'd like some tanks sent over for the ROTC training.

Needless to say- it wasn't a good situation and the CPT took his tanks back right after he realized he was summoned by a Cadet.

Kinda reminds me of Donald Sutherland n the Dirty Dozen, pretending to be a general (he was a disheveled private) while inspecting troops. "Very pretty, Colonel. But can they fight?"

I really don’t find that funny.

We had a similar event take place during my CORTRAMID cruise Marine week. We were at Parris Island and some idiot midshipman went to a recruit barracks in his ROTC uniform and demanded the recruit’s guideon. They complied, of course. The Drill Instructors conducted a quick investigation and got to the bottom of it. Those Midshipman who were involved in the theft were no longer scholarship holders effective immediately.

Midshipman at Parris Island? A visitor of some kind? Or dependent? Obviosuly not stationed there.

"The Drill Instructors conducted a quick investigation and got to the bottom of it." I'll bet they did!

CORTRAMID East Marine Week it sounds like. They'll go to different bases each week based on what community they're checking out for the week.

CORTRAMID West went to Camp Pendleton for Marine Week when I did it.

Yeah, I was being brief because I was on my cell phone.

Back in my day, Midshipmen spent part of their Marine week at Paris Island and part embarked on a ship ahead of an mock amphibious landing. They were not stationed there but saw enough to "understand the Marine environment"!

The DI's supposedly went nuts and were looking for blood. They wanted them charged with impersonating an officer, theft of government property, trespassing, etc but would have probably preferred a few minutes alone with the clowns.
