My daughter Shiloh, who is an accepted cadet to North Georgia for the Fall of 2013, won her high school pageant Sat night. We were all in shock. We were hoping that she would just place since it was her senior year. As they called out 3rd, 2nd 1st runnerups we were all shjaking becuase we thought at that point she wasnt going to place. My daughter was keeping her composure to which I am very proud. They then announced Miss Senior and it still wasnt her. There were 5 girls left(my daughter being one of them) and I could see on her face that she thought she was going home empty handed. Then it happened! they announced her has the overall winner! Miss Swansean 2013! Im so proud of my daughter-there has been alot of nmasty and snide comments regarding her win bcause the captain of the cheer squad and the most popular girl in the school didnt place. She has been so strong and has not let the negative comments to get to her. What a mature young lady. The judges said what stood out about her in the interview(50 percent of the score, 25 percent fifties wear and 25 percent formal wear) was her choice of college (North Georgia) and choice of career(military). They thought it was unique since she is a pageant girl and cheerleader lol

Very cool

That is very cool. I live in Md and the schools up here would never do anything like that. They don't even recognize valedictorians here anymore. Its just a matter of time before having sports MVP's will be off the record too. As for North Georgia. My son loves the university and he said it has surpassed all expectations he had for the school. He said the Corp of Cadets is awesome. DS finished first semester with a 3.9 gpa and is taking off spring semester because he joined the National Guard after learning about the North Georgia Natl Guard Partnership Program. He leaves for boot camp to Ft. Benning later this month. What state are you from?

Thanks Coach Bart. We are from SC. We are sending her deposit in this month and she has already had her physical. She is so excited. I think she will do very well there!

Hathcoam - we are a friendly bunch on this website, but you need to remember that it is a public forum. It took me about 3 minutes to find out your daughter's identity, where you work, etc. from the information provided in your post above. In this day and age you can't be too careful.

I understand you're proud of your daughter, but you might want to edit out the identifying information.
